Item Description
The Wissahickon is a fantastic place to learn about the geology of the Philadelphia area. We will meet at Valley Green, cross the creek and take the Valley Green South trail past Cresheim Creek to the Mount Airy bridge and return on Forbidden Drive. The walk of a little over a mile will take about 2 hours, with stops to look at a variety of different rocks and minerals, from garnetiferous micaschist to talc to hornblende gneiss. The ancient rocks tell a complicated and fascinating story.
Item Special Note
Kids are most welcome on this walk and I can accommodate up to 20 people or so. Date to be agreed upon with winning bidder.
