Wood-fired hot tub at top of the gardens with magnificent sunset view of the Estuary. Four-oven AGA in kitchen; fireplace and writing desk in Music Room; Excellent wifi in all rooms. TV with BBC, Netflix, etc. Lots of books, CDs, and games. Day-bed in music room can be made up as an extra bed.
Grocery store delivers. House Manager lives nearby. Completely furnished, including linens, dishes, cookware, pantry with basic ingredients. Perfect get-away for hikers or people who need a week of peace and quiet. Easy access. Ground floor. No steps.

* * *

The village is on the Duddon Estuary, on the west coast of England, approximately half-way between Liverpool and the southern border of Scotland. The trains to/from London and Scotland stop across the street from Bank House. The local market town is Ulverston, also reached by train, with markets on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The part of Bank House for donation is two queen bedrooms in a ground-floor apartment, sharing a bathroom. Also included are a huge music room, a large kitchen with a four-oven AGA stove, a laundry room with washer/dryer, and the sunny salon/dining room with French doors opening onto the gardens. The gardens are massive, with dry-stone walls, winding paths, four ponds, and a waterfall.

The house is suitable for two couples - bearing in mind that there is only one bathroom. Because the ponds and waterfall are exposed, Bank House is not suitable for a child younger than six years.

The house is completely furnished with cookware, dishes, and bed and bath linens. There are no supermarkets in Kirkby-in-Furness, so the house will be stocked with enough food for a week's stay.

The nearest airport is Manchester UK; the train to our village takes about two hours and leaves from the train station at Manchester Airport.  Coming from London, the train journey takes about four and a half hours.

This is a fabulous place for peace and quiet - and is also a great taking-off point by train for beautiful day trips for boating, fishing, hiking, or journeys to Scotland by the coastal train.

Guests will be met by the house manager who lives nearby Bank House.

Here are the comments of a MB1800 board member who stayed there:  "An idyllic setting, across from the estuary where the Irish seas flows in and out with the tides. Only steps away from the station where you can flag down the local train and from the local pub, too! The house itself is very comfortable with spectacular terraced gardens in the back. A fabulous base for exploring this lovely part of England."
