Item Description

Movie Studio Cards were very popular during the 1920s to the 1960s. When you would write to a studio or celebrity, it was very common to be sent a 5x7 of the celebrity with a facsimile signature.

DESCRIPTION: In this lot are 3 original vintage movie photo cards:

May McAvoy made her first film appearance in 1917 in Hate and signed with Paramount. Unhappy with the contract, she bought it out and went independent. McAvoy was in The Jazz Singer, Hollywoods first talkie and The Terror, England first talkie. McAvoy quit in 1929 to raise a family and returned in 1940. Her career of 98 film credits span from 1917 to 1959.

Ina Claire made her first appearance in vaudeville at the age of 17. She primarily worked her way up in comedy, the stage and to Broadway. Claire appeared sporadically in films starting in 1915 under Cecil B. DeMille and appeared in 14 films from 1915 to 1943 staying with her primary love of live performances.

Norma Talmadge started modelling at the age of 14 and attracted the attention of studio chiefs in New York. Soon she landed small roles starting in 1910 which expanded into a major career. In 1917 she opened the Norma Talmadge Film Corp. and brought in talent like Fatty Arbuckle, Al St. John and Buster Keaton. Talmadge is credited with 164 film roles between 1910 and 1930 although it is said her true credits was double that amount and credited with 25 as producer. However, she retired from the industry at the advent of sound.

CONDITION: All 3 are in Very Good to Very Good+ with some slight edge wear and storage curves due to age.
