Item Description

"Marblehead Summer Sunset" by Susan Dodge

Medium: Acrylic

Size: 19" x 8"

Artist Statement:

My work as an artist and my obsession with the ocean is a lifelong journey. The coast, the horizon, the line between land and sea, what lives beneath, swims and floats atop, I find magical and inspiring. When I am painting, I find my sense of peace. My paintings represent connection. Who we are, where we live and how we are connected to everything in nature. Our roots keep us grounded to the earth. Our history reminds us of who we are, in this circle of life. We rise up from the dirt and then fall back to the ground, but it is about the "in between" that is most important. Particularly the motion, as we reach up throughout our lives to achieve our dreams. While at the same time, we stay connected to who we are. There is a circle of life rising up and falling down. It starts deep within us and sustains our lives deeply.
