Item Description

This piece is thrown from speckled clay. The speckles form from bits of iron and manganese that become visible when the clay is oxidation bisque fired to 2200 degrees. The bowl exterior is sprayed in clear glaze to allow the natural speckles to show through. Koke (Koh-kay) glaze is poured in the interior of the bowl. Koke glazes are designed to mimic the mossy surfaces found in Japanese gardens. Black glazed is lightly sprayed around the bowls rim.

The bowl is 9.5" diameter and 4.5" tall.

The glazes are designed to be dinnerware safe.

A Kirkwood homeowner is the potter.

Enjoy your piece!
