Item Description
Afternoon Tea at Highclere Castle: St. John's Church Administrator Virginia Kosydar and her daughter Laura invite you to a recreation of the afternoon tea they enjoyed during their tour of Highclere Castle last June. Highclere, located about 70 miles west of London, is the setting for "Downton Abbey," the wildly popular British historical drama television series set in the early 20th century.
The date is Saturday, November 12 at 3pm in the Fireside Room at St. John's.
Tea features finger sandwiches (no crusts, please) and delicate scones, cakes, and treats. In addition, of course, to tea. But you should not scarf them down too enthusiastically. Manners are important in afternoon tea: Show restraint, put your napkin on your lap, and stir your tea gently. There is no splashing, clinking or licking your fingers, please. (Heaven forefend!)
