Item Description
We are pleased to feature this beautiful piece of original art, a Gyotaku fish print signed by the artist, Tom Giusti. Freshwater plants at the bottom of the piece are a clue that this female salmon may be headed upstream to spawn. This print captures the essense of the moment, you can almost feel her swimming.
The artist, Tom Giusti, provided some information about this piece. In his email, he recalls that this particular artwork is one of his best Gyotaku prints. This is a fish rubbing, done using the direct printing method. It is printed on handmade Japanese rice paper. The artist framed this piece himself. He provided information about himself and his use of the Gyotaku techniques (see a copy in the photos).
This piece is truely amazing. You can see the scales of salmon on the print. The fresh water plants also appear to be printed from actual plants.
Dimensions 3' wide x 2' tall
Matted and framed under glass. Signed by the artist.
Feel free to call BGHP at (707) 825-8345 to schedule a viewing of this piece.
