Item Description

The package, donated by the Sadies, contains three red wines and one white wine from Stellenbosch - the Napa Valley of the South African wine regions! These four wines are some of the Sadies' favorite South African wines and the wineries are worth a visit and a taste.

De Trafford - Syrah 393 (2009)
This wine is a 100% Syrah grapes and it is ready to drink. This is De Trafford flagship Syrah. The reference to 393 is because the grapes come from the same home vineyard that is 393m above sea level. Best with a thick chunk of steak on the braai. The winemaker is David Trafford.

Le Riche - 'Reserve' Cabernet Sauvignon (2018)
This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. Reserve status is only endowed if the grapes and resulting wine measures up to exceptional standard. Hand selected grapes from older, lower yielding vines are used. Le Riche has a model where they source the highest quality grapes from a few hand selected network of trusted grape growers. Winemaker is Christo Le Riche.

De Toren - Fusion V (2018)
De Toren is one of the most consistent winemakers in Stellenbosch. This wine is a Bordeaux blend made with exceptional quality and been described as soft as spun silk. If you have an evening with friends where more than one bottle of wine will be enjoyed, drink this one first since you want to experience this wine with all your senses intact. This is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Malbec, 15% Cabernet Franc, 13% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Winemaker is Martin Fourie, who spent some time making wine at Screaming Eagles.

Uva Mira - 'The Mira' Chardonnay (2020)
Uva Mira translates as "The Wonderful Grape." Uva is the Latin word for grape, Mira means wonderful, miraculous and full of charm. This winery sits at the top of the Stellenbosch hills and overlooks False Bay with one of the most spectacular views when tasting wine. This is a 100% Chardonnay. Winemaker is Christian Coetzee.
