Jo Owens Murray began her career as a photographer and is a graduate of Rosemont College. Her assemblage sculptures employ beads and jewels to address human emotions and the issues facing women in today's society. Four of her sculptures are in the permanent collections of art museums in Pennsylvania.

"Silenced" is a unique example of contemporary Surrealism. Beads, jewels, costume jewelry and more, adhered to a mannequin, is a pioneering technique. The artist prefers to let the viewer interpret the piece and draw their own conclusions.
