Julia Dwinell holds a BFA from Wheaton College. She was the first place winner in the Norfolk Juried Art show in 2021 for her painting "Abandoned Franklin Home 1" part of her "Abandoned Homes" series from her 2021 senior exhibition. She has recently exhibited her work at the AAM and the WaterFire Arts Center.
"Abandoned Cottage 2" is part of a series created by the artist in 2020-2021 for her senior exhibition at Wheaton College. The series explores interior spaces that Julia Dwinell has interacted with throughout her life but have since been vacated and exist in limbo, still fully furnished as she remembers them. The artist inserts herself in these spaces by staging her own house plants within the space. The plants also symbolize the life the space still has despite being left behind.
