Item Description
Monotype with colored pencil
18" x 16" x 1"
Cecily Donnelly has a BFA from the University of Michigan School of Art and has studied at Slade School of Art in London. Her work is in private, corporate, and healthcare collections in the US and Canada. She lives and works in MA. This monotype is part of a series that uses living plant materials that are placed directly on the printing plate after it is inked and before the paper is positioned. The process is fascinating, because ink, plant materials, paper and press can affect each other in unexpected ways.
"Grasses and Blossoms" was printed using the press at the Attleboro Arts Museum, and it was later enhanced with colored pencil.
