Item Description

Monotype

21" x 25" x 1"

Carol Sacks is a painter and printmaker who resides in North Attleboro, MA. She has studied at Mass College of Art & Design. Her colorful work attempts to convey the ambience, meaning, and atmosphere of her subject. She has exhibited with the AAM, the RI Watercolor Society, Copley Art Society, the MGNE, the Foxboro Art Association, and other venues.

This work is a monotype print that depicts honesty pods, which contain the seeds of purple honesty flowers, swaying in the breeze. The breeze causes the pods to open, releasing the seeds to be distributed by the wind, where they will land eventually and produce the next generation of flowers. A silvery membrane is left on the stems where the pods were, which is often used in dry bouquets. I find the transformation of this flower symbolizes rebirth and renewal, a pattern that all of life emulates. Nature's patterns and colors serve as a source of inspiration and serenity for the artist, which she tries to convey in her work.
