David Volkin was born and raised in MA, he studied art in high school and received a communications degree at Syracuse University SI Newhouse School. A photographer and a painter in acrylic and oils, David has always enjoyed the interplay of light and often uses various mediums in his paintings to shift light and color. His artworks derive from the impressionist and fauvist traditions. David is a member of the RI Photography Society, AAM, and the Pawtucket Arts Collaborative.
This piece is an impression of Beavertail Light in Jamestown, RI from the water's edge. The artist used several tactile additions including pumice and glass beads to create texture and differing refractions of light within the paint.
