Item Description

Each item in this SERRV African Spices Gift Set provides employment, a fair wage, and social benefits to disadvantaged farmers.

Here is what is included in the Gift Set:

  • Smoked Hot Rocks Spice Blend (2.5 oz.) from South Africa consists of smoked chili and paprika, lending a smoky flavor to this spicy chili salt. This is great on meats, pizza, and pasta.
  • Cape Garden Herbs Spice Blend (1.4 oz.) from South Africa is an herbal mix of sea salt, white pepper, rosemary, green peppercorns, basil, oregano and sage. Try it in breads, dressings, fish, or pasta dishes.
  • Moroccan Harissa Spice Blend (1.7 oz.) from South Africa is sea salt combined with chili, garlic, caraway seeds, cumin, and more, providing a versatile flavor for homemade dishes.
  • Zanzibar Island Spice Blend (2.1 oz.) from South Africa is a mixed spice with sea salt, sesame, fennel and coriander seeds, and more. Try it with meats, couscous, or potatoes.

SERRV may substitute similar items at their discretion, based on availability.

These spices are contained in a Wire Mesh Spice Rack made in India. Its welded iron frame with attached wire is artfully wrapped by hand, and it can be used sitting or hanging. The Rack has an antique copper finish and contains recycled elements. It measures 8.25 inches long x 2.75 inches wide x 4.25 inches high.

The Spice Rack is packaged in a beautiful gift box.

Item Special Note

SERRV was one of the first fair trade organizations in the world. Its reach now extends to 24 countries worldwide, working to empower over 8000 artisans and farmers every year by selling their beautiful handcrafts.

SERRV’s mission is to:

  • Create employment. SERRV works to provide employment opportunities to all artisans, regardless of gender, race, or religion. They also work to prevent child labor, making sure artisans' children stay in school and have brighter futures.
  • Pay fair wages. Artisans working with SERRV are paid fair wages in advance, to ensure they can support themselves and their families while they work.
  • Encourage sustainable practices. SERRV cares about the planet, and encourages artisans to use sustainable crafting methods and recycled materials in their handcrafts. Here in the US, they also use recycled cardboard shreds to pack our products for safe shipping.
  • Support community development. SERRV provides loans and donations to help build workshops, fund healthcare and education initiatives, recover from natural disasters, and additional community improvement projects as needed.
  • Preserve traditional crafting techniques. SERRV employs artisans who utilize traditional crafting methods, patterns, and materials to create their handcrafts.

With your support, SERRV can continue to combat global poverty and work to help artisans and farmers build better lives for themselves, their families, and their communities.
