Item Description

Original mixed media painting by Larry Golden. Framed, 25 x 21 inches.

From the Donor, Patty Mucha:

"During the years when I ran the gallery at Catamount Arts in its former Post Office building we had a fine stable of local artists who produced a splendid variety of art. One day, somewhere around 1993 or was it 1994? Larry Golden walked in and presented us with his painting of Yitzak Rabin and Yasser Arafat . The painting showed the two adversaries sitting against a fence looking as smug as Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, thoroughly enjoying each other. It was a spoof of the Leaders newly formed commitment for peace in the Mid-East. The image was truly funny and at the same time it conveyed a hopeful message. We all laughed and of course appreciated Larry Golden’s talent at making that point. Within a short time span Premier Rabin was assassinated making the painting a true 'historical' find. As for the dog…Do any political history buff understand its meaning?"
