Item Description
Joan Barrington, and her alter-ego, Barrington Brolly, invite you to the world of bespoke umbrellas, and ladies’ hand-held parasols. Evoking the imagery of by-gone eras, where an umbrella, or parasol, was considered a fashion necessity, Joan has spent over 25 years, cultivating that image for Barrington Brolly umbrellas, and parasols. The rain-fabric used on this umbrella, was custom designed by Joan, with the assistance of a graphic designer. And Joan had some very specific features, that she wanted for the fabric. So, just what were those features? The fabric had to look as though it was “raining” flowers. So, naturally she also wanted bumblebees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. And, she also wanted “Barrington Brolly”, on the fabric, but subtly written, as if by the vines. But most of all, she wanted something very special - - the occasional forest-faerie, holding up a flower, to feed a hummingbird. However, you’ll have to look closely over the fabric, to find one, as forest-faeries are notorious for hiding.
Once the fabric design had Joan’s approval, it was forwarded to Japan, for production.
This particular umbrella is truly unique. Using a pre-manufactured wood shaft, Joan applied 3 different colours of wood-stains, chosen to complement the colours in the fabric, and the Barrington Brolly purple-leather handle. Large gold-coloured “bubble” tips were added, for just a touch more glam! Suggested price: $150.00
