Ann Ladd teach many different forms of art to all ages but always encourage creative thinking to try something new. For schools and programs that want a large scale mural project she lays out paper and paints and give a theme to the project and have the students paint on the paper. Then the painted subject, a fish or tree is cut out and collaged into a mural. In some classes there are several thousands of cut outs. The fun begins when it all comes together into a beautiful mural all painted by the students. This technique allows her to be both more creative and flexible. A love for the arts runs deep in Ladd’s family, starting with her grandfather. That passion was then inherited by her father — a West Point officer who sculpted, painted and made jewelry and woodcarvings — and then, two generations later, by Ladd and her brother, and her children. Ladd is a White Plains based artist who works as a teaching artist at both ArtsWestchester and the Rye Arts Center
