Item Description
Vintage Navaho naja motif earrings feature sterling silver crescent arms and hands, and a silver centerpiece accented by a small red coral round. It is thought that the indigenous people adopted and adapted this symbol from the Spanish who used a similar symbol on the browband of their horses. A symbol throughout much of the Old World, the Spanish meant it to ward off the evil eye. The naja is comely used by Navajo jewelers as a pendant on their squash necklaces. No makers mark.
Details: Earrings measure 1 1/8" in diameter; red coral stone measures 4mm. In excellent vintage condition.
