Item Description

אחד (One) – This is a replica of the first surfboard Dorian “Doc” Paskowitz brought to Israel in 1956.

Hoping to fight in the 1956 Suez Canal war, Dorian “Doc “Paskowitz, a young Jewish doctor from Galveston, Texas, instead brought the sport of surfing to the state of Israel.

A perfect replica of the board he brought over, Dorian Paskowitz, stunned the people of the newly formed state - as well as the Bedouin Arabs, the native-born Palestinians - as they watched, all united in awe, the man who rode the crystal waves of the Mediterranean Sea.

This board represents a unity of design as well as bearing the Star Of David, the symbol of struggle for understanding and respect that the Jewish people continue to fight for to this day…

“First I’m a surfer, then a Jew, then a doctor”, said Dr. Dorian Paskowitz M.D.
