Item Description

Collectibles - Porky in Wackyland Limited Edition Cel Portfolio #224 of 500 (Warner Bros, 1991)

Porky in Wackyland Limited Edition Cel Portfolio #48/500 (Warner Brothers, 1991). "Welcome to Wackyland -- 'It CAN happen here' -- Population: 100 nuts and a squirrel," reads the sign just outside of Wackyland.

Porky in Wackyland was a groundbreaking achievement from the mind of the legendary Bob Clampett (1913 - 1948), and it is regarded as the definitive cartoon that proved that animation can, and will, do anything. The surreal and unconventional 1938 theatrical short was deemed "culturally, historically, and aesthetically significant" by the United States Library of Congress, and it selected the short for preservation in the National Film Registry in 2000. This is a remarkably rare portfolio of five hand-painted limited edition cels created from the original production art of Porky in Wackyland. Numbered 224 of only 500 made, this portfolio was originally sold at the Warner Brothers Studio Store in 1991. Long sold out for almost 30 years, this collection featuring Porky's dreamlike hunt for the dodo bird is a rare and beautiful treasure.

It comes with a Bob Clampett Certificate of Authenticity, and the cels are matted with a window size of 12" x 10" and an overall frame size of 18" x 16". Each cel bears a Bob Clampett seal.
