About the Artists:

Monica Johnson is a contemporary abstract painter based in Carmel, California. Her paintings are simultaneous explorations of both what she sees and what she feels in the natural rhythms and beauty of everyday life. The work represents the emotional impact that she experiences when connecting with people and with nature when hiking or walking on the beach, witnessing the balance and harmony created through various cycles and seasons. ‘Spacious’, ‘timeless’, and ‘untethered’ are sensations that she aims to evoke in her serene seascapes and energetic abstract paintings. She creates her art using acrylic paint, oil sticks, graphite, charcoal and collage that engage her in the moment, scraping back layers to reveal its history, then adding more layers. Every painting goes through its own cycles, moving naturally through a journey of discovery and revelation.

Nicole Cromwell is a contemporary abstract artist in Carmel by the Sea, California. She began painting several years ago as a way to balance the stresses of her career as a critical care nurse. Her artwork varies from calming ocean and landscapes to vibrant joyful florals and abstracts reflecting the balance she strives for in life.

Beneath the many layers of color, the emotions of joy, inspiration, and love are often written in the forms of poetry and lyrics creating meaningful connections to her collectors. She believes these “invisible glimpses” into her passion for healing, and her own healing process, imbue her paintings with a sense of solace and hope. Her gratitude and appreciation for the beauty of the Monterey Bay gently wash over her work.
