Item Description
Cheryl Patton Wu lives and creates in beautiful, historic West Cape May, NJ. Cheryl has a BFA from Syracuse University with a major in Ceramics and a minor in Fibers, and an MFA from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville with a major in Fiber & Fabric. Currently her fiber work consists of pieces made from commercially and hand-dyed purchased fabric, mainly cotton and wool. Most pieces are first fused, then machine sewn onto a backing fabric. Mark making is composed of simple straight and/or stain stitch, as well as free-motion stitching. Cheryl’s work leans toward abstraction with the use of flat, strong, angled shapes, filled with contrasting patterns, stitching, and explosive bold color. This piece measures approximately 13x13".
