About Troutbeck

Homesteaded in the mid-1700’s, Troutbeck, a member of Design Hotels, is an enchanting estate, and full service hotel only two hours north of New York City. Residential in feeling, the estate once served as a cultural hub for literary greats such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau in addition to housing Myron B. Benton, a poet, officer and farmer. Later, Joel Spingarn, first President of the NAACP, carried forward the Benton tradition, using Troutbeck as an important convening place playing frequent host to Sinclair Lewis, W.E.B du Bois, Langston Hughes, Teddy Roosevelt and Justice Thurgood Marshall amongst others. With respectful nods to its past, the estate, fully renovated, has reemerged as a well-appointed, full service hotel, meeting space and culinary destination emphasizing the arts, local partnerships and honest hospitality in a full service setting. Located in the vibrant Hudson Valley, known for its outdoor activities including bike riding, skiing, and hiking, the property is set to become a place for conversation, food, art, activities and cultural discourse, attracting cultured and active guests. Troutbeck is on the 2018 Conde Nast Hot List, and recipient of Conde Nast Readers’ Choice Award in 2018, 2019, 2021 & 2022; 2019 AHEAD Award – Best Hotel Renovation, Americas, and the 2019 TripAdvisor Readers’ Choice
