Slot is open to children who are going into 8th grade and younger. Prior wrestling experience is recommended.

Our goal is to make you a better wrestler! Our teaching philosophy includes all aspects of the sport. You will not only learn techniques from some of the world’s best, we also focus on goal setting and the elements needed to be successful at all levels of the sport.

Wrestlers who attend our camps leave with a strong understanding of up-to-date techniques, gain valuable knowledge of drills and advice on nutrition and strength training that will enable them to reach the championship level.

Two intensive sessions each day with Harvard University’s World Class coaching staff provides each camper an opportunity to learn from the best!

The Coaching Staff:

  • Camp Director Jay Weiss - Harvard University Head Coach (29th year). The two-time EIWA Coach of the Year has mentored two national champions, 19 EIWA champions and 20 All-Americans during his 28 years at the helm of the Crimson, creating a culture of excellence never seen before. Prior to Weiss' arrival in Cambridge, Harvard boasted just seven All-Americans in almost 80 years. Coach Weiss was EIWA Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2001 and has elevated the Crimson to one of the top programs in the East. Prior to his arrival in Cambridge, no Harvard wrestling team had ever won an EIWA or Ivy League championship. During his time at Harvard, Weiss has guided wrestlers to the NCAA Championships in 25 of his 28 seasons, with multiple student-athletes reaching the national meet in 20 of those years. In addition to the six wrestlers who qualified for NCAAs in 2001, Harvard has placed four at the meet seven times under Weiss. The Crimson finished 20th as a team at NCAAs in 1999, 22nd in 2002, 2004 and 2007, 23rd in 2010, 28th in 2000 and 29th in 1998.

 

  • Christian Monserrat - Born and raised in Methuen, Mass., Monserrat joins the program from Roger Williams University where he was an assistant coach. While he was with the program, Roger Williams wrestling had a regional champion, two regional finalists, and three NCAA qualifiers. Currently, Monserrat is also a resident athlete at the New England Regional Training Center where he finished in the top six at the 2022 Bill Farrell Memorial Tournament.

    Monserrat attended and wrestled for West Virginia University throughout his collegiate career from 2014-19 where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Physical Activity and Sport Science. During his time at West Virginia, he competed in the 141 and 149-pound weight divisions. In his senior season, he was selected as one of five Male Exceptional Seniors due to an impressive final season that saw him ranked No. 16 in the country at 149 pounds. He also finished fourth at the Big 12 tournament and competed in the NCAA Division I NCAA Championships. He finished his collegiate career with a total of 74 matches won including going 23-9 in his senior year on his way to winning Most Valuable Wrestler.

    Monserrat was a four-year letter winner at Methuen High School and won four state Championships, four All-State Championships, and two New England Championships. He became the second wrestler in Massachusetts history to win All-State four times and the fourth wrestler in Massachusetts history to win Division I state titles four times. Monserrat finished his high school career with a winning percentage of 99.1 percent with a 212-2 overall record.

 

  • Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov - Muzaffar is a 3-time Uzbekistan National Champion, Junior World Runner-up, 2-time Junior College National Champion, NCAA All-American. Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov joined the Harvard wrestling staff as an assistant in 2008-09, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge and experience on both the collegiate and international levels. He enters his 15th season with the program in 2022-23.

    Abdurakhmanov made his name known collegiately as an All-American at American University and a two-time junior college national champion at Colby Community College and has won multiple medals on the international stage

    In August 2021, Abdurakhmanov earned Uzbekistan’s highest coaching honor after coaching his brother Bekzod Abdurakhmanov – a former volunteer assistant coach with the Crimson – to a bronze medal at 74 kg in men’s freestyle at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

    In 14 seasons since his arrival in Cambridge, the Crimson has celebrated a national champion in J.P. O'Connor '10, six All-Americans, 28 NCAA qualifiers and 54 EIWA place-winners.

 

  • Bekzod Abdurakhmanov - Former Clarion All-American Bekzod Abdurakhmonov joined the wrestling staff as a volunteer assistant coach in December 2014.In his first season with Harvard, three wrestlers garnered All-Ivy honors, including David Ng who earned a spot at the NCAA Championships at heavyweight. During the 2015-16 campaign, three grapplers earned bids to NCAAs, including Devon Gobbo (165 lbs.) who won the EIWA title, and five team members received All-Ivy League selections.

    Abdurakhmonov, who is the brother of assistant coach Muzaffar Abdurakhmanov, was a two-time NCAA qualifier at 165 lbs., finishing third as a senior in 2012 to earn All-America honors. A current Uzbekistan national team member at 70 kilograms, Abdurakhmonov is currently ranked No. 4 in the world in his weight class.

    He won the bronze medal at the 2014 World Championships and earned the title at the 2014 Asian Games. A 2016-Olympic qualifier who advanced to the bronze-medal match in Rio, Abdurakhmonov was the 2014 Dave Schultz Memorial International runner-up.

    During his career at Clarion, Abdurakhmonov won two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championships at 165 lbs., and placed twice at the Midlands Championships (fourth and second).
