LOCALLY CREATED, ONE OF A KIND GLASS ART ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Venetian glass (Italian: vetro veneziano) has been handmade for over 1,500 years. Venetian glassmakers developed secret recipes and methods for making glass but in 1291 the practice was outlawed in Venice, Italy.

Ernest Miranda's Venice Glassworks has brought this ancient tradition home to Venice Beach, California with over twenty-four years of experience in crafting hand-blown glassworks in the secret traditions of the ancient Medieval Venetian master craftsmen.

He has created large installation art pieces for homes, businesses, and movie sets. His work has been displayed worldwide, including trophies created for the Friendship Cups, won by team Russia and currently on display at the Kremlin. He regularly performs live glass-blowing demonstrations at events, including a performance on the Carson Daly Show, and has been featured in other public broadcasting programs.

"Ernie Glass" has called Venice Beach, California home for over 15 years and truly loves this artistic community. He is passionate about teaching the art of glass blowing to positively influence the direction of young lives, and regularly volunteers at the local Oakwood Park Recreation Center. He can often be found in the window of his shop near the beachfront boardwalk, creating art pieces right before your eyes, carving raw silicate with a solar blade into beautifully functional artistic glassworks.

Item Special Note

All orders are subject to a $.50 shipping and handling fee. This fee will be automatically added to your total purchase when the auction closes. Gift certificates will be sent via USPS or emailed if applicable. If you win an item and would like it mailed via certified insured mail, please email auction@friendsofwalgrove.com by March 23, 2023, and we will do so at your expense. If you would like to pick up an item, please contact us by March 23rd, otherwise, we will ship your item.

Larger items can be picked up in Los Angeles, CA, or shipped at the winning bidder's expense via USPS Priority Mail. $9 for large envelopes, $16 for medium boxes, $22 for large boxes. Some items do not fit into these categories and you will be notified. We will try to use the smallest package size we can. We will insure packages when shipping; however, Friends of Walgrove is not responsible for items lost in the mail.
