Own a piece of history - the funeral of Henry W. Longfellow, originally published in Harper's Weekly in 1882. These magazine pages depict Longfellow's memorial service at Appleton Chapel, the funeral procession, and the scene at his grave, all drawn by Edmund Garrett.
Henry W. Longfellow was an American poet and educator, who became a professor at Harvard. During his writing career, he was the most popular American poet, and also became extremely popular oversees. He spent most of his adult life in Cambridge, and is interred in Mount Auburn Cemetary.
