Item Description
Hungry Ghost Coffee was born in Brooklyn in 2012. GHS parent, Murat Uyaroglu is originally from Istanbul, Turkey, where coffee and conversation are staples of daily life, and coffeehouses are the heart of every community.
In the early 2000s, Murat and his wife moved to Brooklyn and fell in love with the distinct energy and style of its neighborhoods. Soon after, he took over ownership of a small cafe in Prospect Heights. That’s where he began conceiving his ideal Brooklyn coffee shop.
For Murat, the goal has always been to bring together the best roasts and perfectly pulled espresso shots with the vibrant coffeehouse culture he grew up in. That vision was realized when he opened the first Hungry Ghost Cafe on Flatbush and 6th Ave.
There are now 13 Hungry Ghost locations throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. Each store has its own personality and reflects the people and neighborhood it serves—yet you’ll always find a lively, welcoming space and truly excellent coffee. All locations serve Stumptown Coffee, roasted in Red Hook in an exclusive partnership with Hungry Ghost. The food menu is equally rooted in local flavors, including items from Lea Bakery, Colson Patisserie and Greenpoint-based bakery Ovenly.
