Michael Schreier is a professional artist and photographer who has dedicated his considerable professional career to the celebration of both the public and private hero. Recent work includes Storyteller, Waiting for Words at the Ottawa Art Gallery, curator Emily Falvey, 2009, and the curating of the exhibition Dave Heath, A Heritage of Meaning, 2013 at the Ottawa Art Gallery. Selected works are represented in both public and private collections, including the National Gallery of Canada, the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography, the National Archives Photography Collection, the Agnes-Etherington Art Centre, the Canadian Portrait Gallery, Visual Studies Workshop, (Rochester, New York), Light Works Workshop, Syracuse New York, Carleton University Art Gallery, and the University of Ottawa Library Special Collections.
Michael Schreier est un artiste et photographe professionnel qui a consacré sa longue carrière à la célébration du héros tant public que privé. Parmi ses récentes réalisations, citons Chroniqueur/Que viennent les mots à la Galerie d’art d’Ottawa (organisée par la commissaire Emily Falvey en 2009), et le commissariat de l’exposition Dave Heath, A Heritage of Meaning en 2013 à la Galerie d’art d’Ottawa. Certaines de ses œuvres figurent dans des collections publiques et privées, notamment celle du Musée des beaux-arts du Canada, du Musée canadien de la photographie contemporaine, des Archives nationales, du Agnes Etherington Art Centre, du Musée canadien du portrait, du Visual Studies Workshop (Rochester, New York), du Light Works Workshop (Syracuse, New York), de la galerie d’art de l’Université Carleton et de la bibliothèque de l’Université d’Ottawa.
