Item Description
Our Jays classrom had a discussion on peace followed by an art activity to create this beautiful book. We began by reading Lauren Payne's very special book We Can Get Along, A Child's Book of Choices. The Jays shared their ideas on what we can all do to get along. They were able to bring in their prior knowledge on the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., love, and kindness lessons they have had this year.
They all shared their ideas on now they can use their words to compromise and take time to make the right choices. Then each child named what peace means to them. Following this, everyone made tie dye peace shirts and created a beautiful peace painting and collage.
This unique book is a collection of thier paintings, words and personal photographs taken by Luigi Ciuffitelli.
We hope that you agree with the Jays- a kind heart filled with love, peace, joy and kindness brings joy to our lives and our world!
