In this merging of life, beloved places, and favorite pastimes, the artist, designer, and avid skateboarder Leonardo Ilianov De La Cruz has depicted a cherished part of his family home in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, with a focus on a scene in mother’s tropical garden. The decks can be displayed separately or together. Based on New York, the artist reminds us that we can be far from home and yet close at the same time.

Artist bio
Leonardo Ilianov De La Cruz is an Caribbean artist from the Dominican Republic. Born in Los Minas, Santo Domingo and currently living and working in New York. Leonardo uses painting and mixed media to depict the Dominican inner-city experience and culture. His portraits and the barrios’ scenic paintings touch on class, identity, and the desire to highlight the beauty within the struggle of the inner-city and marginalized areas.
