Artist bio
Sabrina Mendoza Malavé (b. 1996, Lechería, Anzoátegui, Venezuela) is a cross-disciplinary artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work spans drawing, painting, printmaking, writing, and sculpture. Through her practice, Mendoza aims to raise awareness about Venezuela’s socio-political turmoil by offering a critical perspective on international and national power structures and their impact on people. Mendoza’s artwork incorporates her poetry alongside written and visual references of political propaganda, news headlines, protests signs, and historical events. Through this approach, she addresses pressing social concerns such as class inequality, migration, displacement, political polarization, and misinformation to spark discussions over public life and foster social consciousness.
