Artist: Marie Hayes
Marie Miller Hayes is a Massachusetts native now living in Chatham after living and raising three children in Chicago. She grew up surrounded by artists: her mother, aunt, uncle and cousin. Art has always been in her life one way or another.
2 years ago she discovered Fluid Acrylics. She believes that this colorful art form lends itself very well to the watery environment we love to live with here on Cape Cod. She loves the way the pigments combine when thinned and manipulated to create something lovely, colorful and surprising - often with an ocean or water-garden vibe. It’s messy and fun!
Her goal of “saying something” is always on her mind and she feels she is more designer than painter. She earned a BA in Communication Design from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1983 at age 41. She moved into computer graphics and worked in advertising and newspaper and magazine publishing until her move to Chatham in 1999.
