Item Description

Blade 3.5"L, Handle 4.75"L, 1.5"W. Sheath 11"L. Knife handle and sheath wood are American holly, the whitest wood in the world. Handle is kolrosed with the artist's design, using powdered black walnut bark, finished with Danish oil. The blade is a 3-layer laminated knife blade, forged by KJ Groven. The sheath leather is half tanned leather. It has a rawhide center that makes it very durable. The symbols on the back of the sheath represent four of life's essentials: food, water, shelter and family. The shape of the sheath and the knife handle were inspired by Olav Mortensen, knife maker and instructor from Skien, Norway. The sheath is numbered and dated by the artist, 2023. Artist: Scott Johnson, Vesterheim Gold Medal knifemaker and woodworker.
