Item Description
20" Dia. Double-beaded plate handturned by Montzka Woodworking. Painted with rosemaling in the Valdres style with a Scottish thistle leaf design. The background is acrylic and the rosemaling is in oils. The artist writes, "I'm fascinated by Valdres rosemaling - especially that of Ola O. Strand, Ola O. Lokreim, and Helge O. Kvale. The motifs in their rosemaling have been my inspiration for this piece." Back reads, "Handpainted by J.E. Norsetter, VGM. Verona, Wisconsin. No. 450. Valdres Style Rosemaling with flowers inspired by Scottish thistles. Oil colors: Prussian Blue and Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Permanent Madder Deep, Cadmium Yellow Light, Titanium White."
