"Nauti-Bass" aka "The Ultimate Bass Boat" | 45"W X 33"T X 6"D. Constructed on the wooden Bass base with a vintage map of Martha's Vineyard as the background, this piece incorporates nautical found objects including a sail from a toy sailboat, brass telescope, keychain fender, toy ships wheel, doll’s eye, old marine radio microphone, promotional Delta anchor bottle opener, nautical charting ruler, old boat speedometer and tilt gauges, antique straining spatula, compass, toy life preserver, vintage tins, old belt bait box, propeller, cleat, piece of an old fishing rod, vintage reel, treasure chest and more!

The back of the Bass has built-in solid 3” risers with heavy duty D-rings to easily and securely mount on any wall, holding the piece 3” off the surface so there are no protrusions in the way.
Artist: David Joseph
David Joseph is an artist, physician, engineer and inventor who lives on Martha’s Vineyard and in Naples, Florida. As an artist, David’s primary media are found object art and photography. An avid international traveler, he has visited over 120 countries on all seven continents, all 50 states, and over 250 UNESCO world heritage sites, each destination an opportunity to photograph nature, wildlife, and portraits. Unable to travel during Covid, David saw the potential to create art from the mundanity around him. He began to create found object sculptures made of old or used common household items, toys, and sports equipment. Each whimsical, thought-provoking piece displays the balanced composition of a trained artist and the skilled construction of an engineer. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association and The Old Sculpin Gallery, and he exhibits in numerous galleries. He is also very committed to supporting the community and donates numerous pieces to raise money for art, education, and community services; these pieces raised over $5000 in 2022.
