Item Description
Moby Dick | "Scrimshaw" portrait of Herman Melville with a scene from Moby Dick, the great American fishing story. For this piece I combined the look of traditional scrimshaw patterns and techniques with my more contemporary stippled style.
Artist: Darrel Morris
I am a full time scrimshander and year round Vineyard resident. I discovered scrimshaw in 1986 and it has been my medium of choice ever since. I can be found at Vineyard Time on Main Street in Vineyard Haven.
Sponsor: The Carnegie, Vineyard Preservation Trust

This bass in one-sided.
Artist Estimated Value: $5,500.00
