Item Description

Karin Taylor donated this framed original painting "Winter Break" to the Rotary Auction.  This painting in acrylics is 37" x 19".

‘Winter Break’ was inspired by our annual visits to Lahaina in Maui : the perfect contrast to the cold of Alberta and the rainy days on the Coast.
I used to paint mostly North American Wildlife - moving to the Sunshine Coast changed all this: the beauty of living on the Sunshine Coast brought out so much more color in my art choices.. Sea scapes became my favorite subject matter.
I always paint in acrylics and mixed media.
I started out as a watercolor artist whist living the Middle and Far East, after emigrating to Canada in 1997 I became a mostly North American wildlife artist.
Unusual canvases have always had my preference and for many years I was fortunate enough to to be part of the Calgary Stampede Western Art show with my feather paintings and 3D art.
After moving to the west coast of BC I finally became a ful time 3D artist: sculpting (yoga) bears out of wood cellulose. One of my bears was recently bronzed for the town of Gibsons and can be found at the bottom of Steward road and the Inglis trail:
Boat Pose Bear is now part of the public Gibsons Art Path.
The coast continues to inspire me and whenever I have time I enjoy painting sea scapes. ‘Winter Break’ is an example of this.
