Item Description

This is an stunning vintage Navajo sterling silver and turquoise squash blossom necklace!

This is an amazing vintage Navajo sterling silver squash blossom necklace featuring cabochons of beautiful turquoise in soft shades of robin's egg blue laced with a warm chocolate spiderwebbed matrix. Each stone is set in a deep bezel, wrapped with hand-twisted silver roping and decorated with leaves.

It features cabochons of beautiful turquoise in soft shades of robin's egg blue laced with a warm chocolate spiderwebbed matrix. Each stone is set in a deep smooth bezel, wrapped with hand-twisted silver roping, and decorated with leaves.

The side blossoms have a fluted silver flower petal beneath each setting, while the naja is comprised of seven settings arranged around a horseshoe shape of heavy gauge silver bands. A small set stone piece dangles from the center of the naja.

The handmade silver bench beads are strung, along with the naja and side blossoms, on a silver foxtail chain that fastens with a traditional hook-and-eye clasp.

This heavy necklace weighs 243 grams, and it measures approximately 17 inches long from clasp to the tip of the naja centerpiece. The naja measures 3 inches in length. Unclasped, this necklace measure 29.5 inches long.

Knowing that some Native American jewelry collectors prefer the patina of age on their pieces, I have not cleaned this Old Pawn necklace with one exception. I have cleaned the back of the back of the center "dangle." I believe there may be a signature on its back and had hoped that by cleaning it, I could read it. Alas, the signature remains undecipherable; I've included a close-up of the back of this dangle.

This magnificent old squash blossom necklace will make a fantastic addition to any collection of Native American vintage jewelry!
