Item Description
"I created this piece after I went to VINS and took some photos of Elmwood. Then we sponsored her and received a nice photo and the story about how Elmwood was injured and came to VINS. Elmwood was my inspiration for this piece.
I started the process by drawing the subject on the linen backing. I chose my materials from hand dyed wools and yarns. I hooked the Eagle with a process of raising the cut wool and then sculpting it into the shape I was trying to create. I added fuzzy, fluffy or eyelash yarns for texture along with feathers. My backgrounds are mixes of hand dyed wools and yarns that are blended together to give interesting textures and colors, usually done in water and sky colors.
My birds are shown on the Green Mountain Rug Hooking Guild website. I was chosen as the featured artist in 2023 at their Montpelier exhibition. I am juried in the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen and have a profile on their site and sell my birds in their shops."
