Item Description

In France, espresso can be found in every corner café, but café au lait—equal parts coffee and steamed milk—enjoyed from a bowl is at the core of the French morning ritual. Café au lait bowls can be traced back to physician Pierre de la Roque’s 1644 trip to Constantinople, when he returned to Marseilles with coffee beans and several vessels for preparing and serving them. Although handles began appearing on cups in the mid-1700s, French coffee drinkers kept enjoying their morning café au lait from bowls, possibly thanks to the ease of dipping their croissant or donut in its wider brim, but also for the pleasure of holding the bowl with both hands, allowing them to savor their morning coffee and be fully present in the moment.

Included in this basket are the following:

Stone Street Cold Brew Coffee: This 1 LB bag is 100% Arabica, low in acidity, and a strong and smooth coarse ground blend. And it's a local favorite!

BODUM 8-Cup Coffee Maker: This 8-cup French press coffee maker allows you to brew flavorful coffee in 4 minutes.

Two 16 oz. Café Au Lait white bowls

Milk Frother: Whip up rich foam in no time for a coffee shop style drink at home.

1.2 Liter Enamel Milk Pan

Amid the hectic pace of our grab-and-go coffee culture, this French café au lait basket will inspire you to brew an excellent cup of coffee with a French press, warm your milk in an attractive enamel milk pot, dip your morning pastry into a steaming café au lait bowl and enjoy the French Art de Vivre (the art of living).
