Item Description

For Bordeaux fans, this is an oenophile's dream! This lot includes six unique bottles of award-winning Bordeaux, ranging from 1989 through 1996. Let's begin with the 1989s.

1989 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac: This bottle of Pauillac is a red blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Neal Martin rated it a 94 and described it as “a lovely wine” and “the best bottle that I have encountered. It has a pixelated bouquet with layers of black fruit, iodine and black truffle, minty aromas signifying a Pauillac emerging with time.”

1989 Chateau Clinet, Pomerol: The 1989 Clinet is the vintage that put the Pomerol estate on the map thanks to a perfect score by Robert Parker, the foremost American wine critic of Bordeaux wines. It features kirsch, cassis and crushed violets on the nose. It is a medium bodied, very deep and rounded red. It received an astounding 95 points.

1995 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Pauillac: This bottle of Pauillac is also a red blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. Receiving a 92+, the utterly silky ’95 is very much a merlot wine, with an extremely velvety texture and tannins.

1996 Chateau Pontet Canet, Pauillac: Receiving 93 points, this vintage has aged beautifully. Cedar, scorched earth and mint blossoms on the nose and it is more fruit forward than expected. It’s drinking window is 2020-2032 so it is now in its prime!

1996 Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste, Pauillac: Robert Parker calls this “a superb, classic Pauillac.” It reveals an essence of crème de cassis character that sets it apart from other Pauillacs. It has aged effortlessly and the vibrancy of the fruit is intense and fresh.

1996 Chateau L’Evangile, Pomerol: Nestled within the esteemed Pomerol appellation, Chateau L’Evangile has woven a tapestry of tales through its exquisite wines. This one is no exception. This 1996 vintage is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc; matured for 18 months in oak barrels. It pairs perfectly with dishes like duck confit and received a 90 from Wine Spectator.

These wines have been stored in a temperature controlled cellar and are now ready to be enjoyed!
