• Blowing Rock Getaway: Grandfather Mountain Guest Passes for Four (4)

Enjoy the highs and lows of Grandfather Mountain! Guest passes for four (4)

Grandfather Mountain is a place of amazing biodiversity and scenic beauty that towers 5,946 feet above northwest North Carolina.

One-third of the mountain is operated as a scenic travel attraction by the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation, Inc.  All proceeds from sales of tickets and souvenirs go toward preserving Grandfather Mountain and sharing its wonders in ways that deepen visitors’ appreciation of nature and inspire good stewardship of the earth.

Guests to the attraction are able to drive their own vehicles through the park, stopping along the way to enjoy a variety of activities, such as native wildlife exhibits, the Wilson Center for Nature Discovery, hiking trails and the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge that connects two peaks at one mile above sea level. The primary allure is the exhilarating feeling of being on top of the world while looking out across views of mountain ridge after mountain ridge cascading to the horizon, made easily accessible via a paved road to the 5,300-foot elevation on Grandfather’s peaks.

• Blowing Rock Getaway: Harris Teeter Gift Card $20

• Blowing Rock Getaway: Harris Teeter Gift Card $25

This listing includes two gift cards to Harris Teeter, valued at $20 and $25.

In 1936, W. T. Harris borrowed $500 to open his first grocery store in Charlotte, NC. He was a pioneer in the grocery industry, opening his first supermarket in 1949 that featured air-conditioning, and remained open until 9 p.m. on Friday nights!

Meanwhile, Willis L. Teeter and his brother, Paul, borrowed $1,700 to open their first Teeter's Food Mart in Mooresville, NC, in 1939.

The two young, prospering companies first combined efforts in 1958 when they pooled their buying efforts and storage facilities. On February 1, 1960, Harris Super Markets and Teeter's Food Marts officially merged to form Harris Teeter Super Markets, Inc. There were already 15 stores in operation. The first "Harris Teeter" store to open under the new banner was in Kannapolis, NC.

Harris Teeter now operates over 200 stores in eight states and the District of Columbia.  In addition to its retail stores, Harris Teeter also owns grocery, frozen food, and perishable distribution centers in Greensboro, NC and Indian Trail, NC, as well as a dairy in High Point, NC.
