Item Description
Shoes worn during WNBA game September 7, 2024 v.s Phoenix Mercury. Shoes are Nike Zoom Lebron Nxxt Gen's, size men's 11/women's 12.5. Custom sneaker designed and hand painted by artist Breanna Berry.
Nika wanted to highlight two causes close to her family: breast cancer awareness, and Alzheimer's & Dementia awareness. The first shoe is honoring her mother, who battled breast cancer. It shows her repping Nika’s UConn jersey, with “Warrior” as the name on the back. On the front of the shoe, it says, “I love you mom,” next to a breast cancer awareness ribbon. The back has a pair of wings, surrounding the word, “Nocia,” which means “good night” in Croatian.
The second shoe is in honor of her grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s. It’s shades of gold, with a silver chain weaving across it. The toe features the symbols of a jack of clubs card. One side features a picture of her grandmother repping Nika’s Storm jersey, with “Warrior” as the name on the back. Next to this, is the phrase “I will remember for you.” The other side features the phrase “Volim te,” which means “I love you" in Croatian.
