Item Description
Mens Gudbrandsdal bunad made by Vneda Johnson Haugen for her husband Arnold Haugen. Bunad is made from fabric and patterns purchased on a trip to Norway in the 1970's. Pants, shoes, socks, leg bands and sølje were purchased in Norway. Arnold was born and raised on a farm just north of Decorah, in the Canoe Valley where his Norwegian immigrant grandparents settled. Vneda comes from Norwegian immigrants who settled in the Hesper area north of Decorah. They both graduated from the Decorah High School. Jacket measurements: 29" from the top of the collar to the hem in the back, sleeve is 25" long, armpit to armpit is 22". Vest measures 21" from top of the collar to the hem in the back, armpit to armpit is 20". Shirt measures 31" from top of the collar to the hem, sleeve is 24" long from armpit seam to the end of the cuff, armpit to armpit is 26". Pants are 32 1/2" long from waistband to the bottom of the cuff, inseam is 20", waist is 34" with elastic in the back.
