The artist has graciously agreed to start the bidding at $200.
Linda Pearlman Karlsberg earned a BFA and MFA in painting at BU's College for the Arts. She has exhibited her work extensively, including "8 Visions" at the AAM, the Brand Library Art Center, Five Points Art Gallery, Monmouth Museum, Alpers Fine Art, Dedee Shattuck Gallery, the International ARC Salon and with American Women Artists. Her work has received numerous awards, been featured in art periodicals, blogs, shared in numerous catalogs and is in public and private collections throughout the US.
"About to Fly" is a graphite drawing on archival paper, one of a number of drawings and paintings which included origami cranes and mermaid's purses. Japanese cranes symbolize hope, healing, and peace, and are associated with longevity and good fortune. These artworks followed a time when there were many difficult family illnesses and losses and grew from the artist's struggle to find context and meaning.
