As Creator of the Cool Cleveland.com e-mail newsletter, Thomas Mulready has lead the development of a multi-media network dedicated to economic development and the promotion of arts, culture and technology. He organizes regular after-work Art/Tech/Dance networking events for hundreds of arts, technology and business folks throughout the region. He writes a column for the alternative weekly, The Free Times, and a monthly column for Cleveland Magazine, and appears twice weekly on WCLV-FM radio. The Cool Cleveland e-letter goes our weekly to tens of thousands around the country with news, events, commentary, letters and links to issues of vital importance to revisioning Cleveland in the 21st century.

As Founding Director since its inception in 1987, Thomas Mulready directs the Performance Art Festival+Archives, known as the largest festival of performance art in the world. This multi-week Festival each year presented over 275 artists from around the world offering more than 100 performance events in dozens of venues throughout the region annually from 1988-1999. With over 6000 photographs and more than 2000 hours of video, along with artist biographies, critical reviews, artist statements and ephemera from over one thousand performance artists it has presented, the organization is in the process of developing exhibitions, catalogs, symposia, performance series and video programs to make these archives accessible to scholars, journalists, artists and the public.

Mulready is also an artist who began presenting his multi-media performance work to the public with a performance at Shakespeare & Co. in Paris. He has produced a book, The Automatic Turnpike, and two full-length videos, Tom Mulready Within And Without Television, and Down In The Basement, and has presented his audio, video and performance work in art galleries, bookstores, rock clubs, theatres and junkyards throughout the U.S. His audio work is featured on the recording A/Consonant Vowel, and his videos and public service announcements have been broadcast on television. He has published poetry, fiction, and music and art reviews. He has received numerous grants and awards as a solo artist and as a collaborative member of performance groups. He recently released a CD a stitch in time, with the band Tamerlane, on which he writes, sings and plays drums. He currently plays with Cats on Holiday.

Mulready has been employed by Campbell Soup Co. and Richardson-Vicks (now a division of Proctor & Gamble), among others. As principal of MulreadyGROUP, he manages a business that designs, develops and delivers customized programs and seminars, working with avant-garde and mainstream organizations in the areas of management, marketing, technology, and strategy, and he has delivered seminars and training sessions for business and arts on technology and strategic issues. He ran Internet operations for Management Recruiters International and launched the Recruiter Village and BrilliantPeople.com, and recently served as Senior Vice President for eCommerce and Internet Strategy at National City Bank. He serves on the steering committee of E-Com Ohio, Governor Bob Taft's statewide commission to study Ohio's eCommerce readiness. He currently serves as Secretary of both the Cleveland chapter and the International chapter of the Association of Internet Professionals, and he is Secretary on the board of DreamsCanBe.org, international partners helping Brazilian street children.

He has served as a guest lecturer and panelist at various universities and arts organizations, and is the recipient of numerous awards and grants. He has lectured and served as worldwide. He recently directed the major collaborative digital media project One Week In The Life Of University Circle, involving over a dozen large cultural and educational institutions. He was one of only eight people in the U.S. to be awarded a residency in the United Kingdom studying and working to develop cross-cultural artist exchanges and partnerships, developing audiences for avant-garde performance art with the British American Arts Association. He is currently a Senior Research Consultant to Nottingham Trent University in England, and recently returned from a tour of the United Kingdom performing and speaking on performance art and business.
