Item Description
A unique item, this 22" x 31.75" brass rubbing of Thomas Glenham (Brundish, Suffolk) in a robe of fur and Elizabethan ruffs of 1571 is a rubbing of an original memorial, not permitted to be rubbed at present. Gold rendition with background of ecru linen board. Note: English (not Latin) inscription.
This brass rubbing is a copy of an engraved brass portrait, like those often seen as memorials on the walls in churches. Today, many churches have disallowed rubbing for fear of destroying these memorials.
