Frederick R. Nance serves as the managing partner of the firm's Cleveland office. His legal practice focuses on commercial litigation, sports law, construction law, public-private partnerships and project counseling. Much of his practice in recent years has included high stakes negotiations involving community interests. He is an experienced jury trial litigator in federal and state courts and a frequent participant in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Mr. Nance served as the primary outside counsel to the City of Cleveland and former Cleveland Mayor Michael White for more than 10 years.

He has been recognized and included among The Best Lawyers in America 2001-2002 and 2003-2004 and has been designated a Leading Lawyer in Northern Ohio by Inside Business magazine for 2001, 2002 and 2003.

In addition to various professional bar associations, Mr. Nance is the Vice Chairman -- Advocacy of the Greater Cleveland Partnership, Cleveland's recently reorganized, 16,000-plus member Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Boards of Baldwin-Wallace College and the Urban League of Greater Cleveland, and serves on the Commission for the Cleveland Clinic Foundation's Heart Center, as well as its National Board for the Taussig Cancer Center. Mr. Nance served for six years as an outside director to McDonald & Company Investments, Inc., where he was a member of the Audit and Compensation Committees. He is also a life member of the US Court of Appeals Sixth Circuit Judicial Conference.

In 2004, Mr. Nance received The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Service to Mankind Award, the organization's highest honor.

Counsel to the Cleveland Browns for Stadium subleases and concessions
Project Counsel to the Cleveland Municipal School District for its US $1 billion Facilities Construction Program
Counsel to the City of Cleveland in the US $1 billion expansion of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, including a series of agreements with Continental Airlines resulting in the construction and 30-year lease of a new concourse with significantly expanded hub operations; and the negotiated settlement of long-standing litigation with the City of Brook Park, accommodating airport expansion needs for 50 years
Negotiation and administration of a series of agreements with the National Football League guaranteeing the return of the Cleveland Browns and funding a new US $300 million stadium, and subsequently serving as construction counsel on all aspects of the stadium project
Negotiation of agreements with the Cleveland Cavaliers regarding its operations at Gund Arena on behalf of the Gateway Corporation
