He has served as a Director of a number of major corporations, including Continental Airlines at the present time. In the civic arena, over the years he has chaired many leading organizations including Business Volunteers Unlimited, University Hospitals Health System, The City Club of Cleveland, the Greater Cleveland Roundtable, The Cleveland Foundation, the Greater Cleveland Growth Association, and the Cleveland Institute of Music. He currently serves as a Trustee of a number of organizations and chairs the (Ohio) Governor's Commission on Higher Education and the Economy, the President's Council Foundation, Kulas Foundation, and the national Newcomen Society. He is a Life Trustee of United Way in Cleveland and in 1989 chaired the Annual Campaign which raised a record $51,900,000.
