A native Clevelander and graduate of Orange High School, Mark G. Simmons recently joined PolyOne in the newly created position of vice president of sourcing and logistics. Simmons is responsible for developing and executing global sourcing and logistics strategies for PolyOne's supplier expenditures which are in excess of $1.5 billion. He has more than 20 years of supply chain management consulting and operational experience in North America, Europe and Asia.

Most recently, Simmons was president of ePC Consulting, a small London based firm, that specializes in turnarounds of medium-sized, global manufacturing companies through implementation of effective sourcing and product design strategies.

Prior to this, Simmons served as special advisor to McKinsey & Company where he provided expertise in the start up of Strategic Sourcing solution providers. Simmons also served as president of Partminer CSD, now part of Manugistics, where he led the repositioning of the company to become a recognized strategic sourcing software provider. While at Partminer CSD, he was named as one of the top 50 e-procurement experts in the U.S. by iSource Business magazine, now Supply and Demand Chain Executive.

Simmons was formerly based in Europe for more than 10 years where he was a partner with Ernst & Young, leading the Global Sourcing and eProcurement Practice, and a principal with Booz, Allen & Hamilton in its Operations Practice. Simmons started his career as an engineer and management trainee at TRW Inc based in Cleveland.

Simmons graduated from the University of Michigan with a master of business administration degree in operations strategy and general management. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Wisconsin.
